As a ceramic foam filter for molten metal slag, it requires stringent properties to help foundries produce high-performing castings. So, what are the requirements for ceramic foam filters?
• It should have good mechanical properties at room temperature to ensure that no slag is lost during the casting operation and transportation.
• Since the pouring temperature of cast steel and high temperature casting alloy is between 1480°C~1620°C and 1400°C~1650°C, respectively, the foam ceramic filter should be used in the temperature range of 1400°C~1650°C. It has good high-temperature mechanical properties to ensure that it can withstand the impact of molten metal during the pouring process.
• It should have a suitable pore size to ensure that the molten metal can pass smoothly during the pouring process without “blocking the hole”, maintain a suitable filling flow, and at the same time ensure its filtration efficiency. If the pore size is too small, the molten metal filling is too slow, and it is easy to cause insufficient pouring or cold insulation defects in the casting; if the pore size is too large, the filtration efficiency of the foam ceramic filter will be reduced and the filtration effect will be affected.
• It should have good chemical stability, and it is not easy to react with the elements in the molten metal.
As a manufacturer of ceramic foam filters, Sefu has an in-depth knowledge of ceramic foam filters. Our ceramic foam filters have good mechanical properties and good chemical stability. The aperture is precise and the variety is complete. We can also debug the aperture according to your requirements.
