The three-way catalytic converter can reduce CO, HC and NOx emissions at the same time. When two converters are used at the same time, they are usually placed in the same converter housing, and the three-way catalytic converter is placed in front of the oxidation catalytic converter. After the exhaust gas passes through the three-way catalytic converter, part of the unoxidized CO and HC continue to undergo oxidation reactions with the supplied secondary air in the oxidation catalytic converter.
