Three-way Universal Catalytic Converter for Purifying Automobile Exhaust

Three-way universal catalytic converters are equipment used in emission control systems. It reduces harmful exhaust emissions by converting toxic pollutants (by-products of fuel combustion) into less toxic gases.

There are several main types of catalytic converters, but three-way universal catalytic converter (sometimes called three-way mufflers) is the most effective and commonly used today. The three-way catalytic converter oxidizes carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons and reduces nitrogen oxides. Catalytic converters can be used in internal combustion engines fueled by natural gas or diesel. They are most often associated with the engines of automobiles and other vehicles, but they can also be used in various other types of engines. For example, generators, water pumps, and lawnmowers can all use catalytic converters.

Features of Three-way Universal Catalytic Converter:

1. Efficient catalytic coating

2. Excellent thermal and physical strength

3. Low exhaust gas limit

4. Low maintenance and easy to install

How Does the three-way catalyst work?

A catalyst is a chemical substance that accelerates the reaction while remaining unchanged. In a three-way catalytic converter, the catalyst is a precious metal, such as platinum or palladium. The role of precious metals is to accelerate the speed of the following reactions:

Nitrogen oxides are reduced to nitrogen and oxygen. Carbon monoxide is oxidized to carbon dioxide. Unburned hydrocarbons are oxidized to carbon dioxide and water.

The converter itself is a metal box with two pipes. The input pipe sucks smoke from the engine, and the output pipe is connected to the exhaust pipe. Inside the converter is a ceramic honeycomb structure coated with catalyst.
