Instructions for Use of Ceramic Foam Filters

Use of Ceramic Foam Filters:

1. In the use of ceramic foam filters, should check and clean the surface of the filter box, and keep the filter box clean and undamaged.

2. Gently put the filter plate into the filter box and press the sealing gasket around the filter plate by hand to prevent the side flow or floating of aluminum liquid.

3. Preheat the filter box and filter plate evenly to make them close to the temperature of molten aluminum. The preheating temperature of the filter plate shall not be lower than 260 ℃.

Preheating to remove the adsorbed water is conducive to helping the opening of the initial filter aperture at the moment and preventing the thermal expansion and cold contraction from blocking some holes of the filter plate.

Electric or gas heating can be adopted for preheating, and normal heating lasts for 15-30 minutes. During casting, pay attention to the change of aluminum hydraulic head and maintain the flow control of aluminum liquid with normal demand. The normal initial pressure head is 100-150mm. When the liquid aluminum begins to pass through, the pressure head will drop below 75-100mm, and then the pressure head will slowly increase.

During the normal filtration process, avoid knocking and vibrating the filter plate. At the same time, the runner shall be filled with molten aluminum to avoid too large and too small disturbance of molten aluminum. After filtration, take out the filter plate in time and clean the filter box.

Compressive Strength:

In the process of transportation and use of ceramic foam filters, the filter plate must bear some pressure from outside. Therefore, the compressive strength is introduced as a basis for measuring the quality of filter plates. The higher the compressive strength, the more durable the product is, the better the quality is. Otherwise, it is the opposite. The compressive strength index is determined as more than 0.5MPa in the standard.
