Diesel Oxidation Catalytic Converter

Automobile DOC is a catalytic converter. The diesel oxidation catalytic converter is a device installed in the exhaust system of diesel vehicles to reduce the number of pollutants in the exhaust through various physical and chemical effects. Under the action of a catalyst, it converts the three harmful gases of CO, HC, and NOx in the exhaust into harmless gases such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen, hydrogen, and water through oxidation reaction, reduction reaction, water-based gas reaction, and steam reforming reaction. According to the purification form of the catalytic converter, the catalytic converter can be divided into an oxidation catalytic converter, a reduction catalytic converter, and a three-way catalytic converter.

DOC is the most important catalyst among diesel engine after-treatment catalysts. Its main function is to oxidize the unburned hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) produced during the combustion process into harmless water and carbon dioxide. At the same time, it can also convert the NO in the engine exhaust into NO2 for the passive regeneration of the downstream catalytic particle filter (CDPF) and increase the NOx conversion efficiency of the selective reduction catalyst (SCR). According to emission requirements, it is sometimes necessary to integrate multiple functions on the DOC, which also brings great challenges to the design of the DOC.
